Hello Ashok!

My Experience with affiliate and internet marketing

If I look at affiliate marketing in India, I don’t think there is much to cheers. Many affiliate marketers of India are earning major chunk of their earnings by promoting products of US websites. There are some matrimonial an travel websites in India, running affiliate programs but they are more interested in brand promotion instead of getting sale through affiliate programs, what they want is affiliate put their big banner on their site to promote their brand.

In US, affiliate marketing plays an important role in Internet marketing, almost all merchants give importance to affiliate marketing and affiliates brings a major chunk of sales to merchant.

One of the major reason hindrance for affiliate marketing in India is there is no major affiliate network, with expertise in affiliate marketing. All major sites are running their own affiliate program. As an affiliate I always prefer affiliate program run by third party. Because it give more security to affiliates towards payment and tracking of sales.

With increasing internet literacy and peoples awareness towards e-commerce, let us see how affiliate marketing goes in India in coming years.

This post is part of ProBlogger’s group-writing project on reviews and predictions.

It is not mandatory that a popular isp should be used for domain registration. You can use domain buy service from any service provider whose policies please you. Ideally the site should be able to work with affiliate resources. The presence of an affiliate program is necessary in order to use more business. One such program is internet2 affiliates. These programs can even work on broadband so that your site does not get too heavy to upload.

This is a very interesting topic for me and I encourage you to write more about it.

I am about to open a new blog on the topic of travel to Europe. But I feel that most of my audience will be elsewhere and therefore the advertising (adsense etc) will be focused on North American and elsewhere.

I should write for my audience, of course. But how do I learn more about my audience, especially in regards to Affiliate Marketing?

      Hi Ashok.

I recently read an article in Business Week about India’s thriving economy. It looks as if things are starting to rapidly pick up. Perhaps it’s only a matter of time before affiliate marketing finds its own niche as well.

@Cool It is true that it is not easy to earn money from affiliate marketing, and I think it is good.

      Hey Ashok,
tks for stopping by my blog.

there’re a couple of solutions you can look at:
      1) wait for affiliate networks to extend their services more widely to india.
      2) proactively approach affiliate networks in the US.
      3) start your own affiliate management network and proactively approach possible clients.

it’d really depend on your intention and goals, and everything will logically fall into place.

ps: if you’d like to further enhance your comments and interaction, you might like to check out the email notification to comments plugin that i have uploaded at www.whoisandrewwee.com/wordpressplugins

      cheers!

@Reaper-X, for success in affiliate marketing traffic should be highly targeted, also just posting banner in your site will not help in generating sales, there is many more thing which you have to do to generate sales.

@Andrew Wee Thanks for your suggestions. Presently I am following your suggestion no.2 and thanks for suggesting plugin I have downloaded and installed.
