As internet is penetrating and many people are spending more time online. More and More people are joining into affiliate marketing. No doubt, affiliate marketing is one of the most effective means of generating a full-time income through the Internet. If you want to earn big, of course, you have to invest time and great amount of hard work in promoting the products. As earlier mentioned, the competition is very high and customers nowadays are very wise, too. After all, who doesn’t want to get the best purchase—that is, to pay less and get more in terms of quantity and quality.

Lack of preparation is also a reason why one fails in affiliate marketing, whether he is a merchandiser or an affiliate. Part of the preparation is researching. On the part of the merchant, he has to be highly selective in choosing the right affiliate websites for his affiliate program. In order to be sure he has the best choices, he must have exhausted his means in looking for highly interested affiliates whose sites are sure fit to his products and services.    grow, even if you don’t see immediate results. Even though weeks may pass without hearing good news,
   it’s very important for anyone who wants to get their foot in the business world.
6. Determination The third quality you’ll need is determination. If you want to make it in the world of affiliate marketing, you must possess to push yourself forward. The ability to push yourself to greater
   heights will determine what type of future you have.

8. Discipline The fourth quality is self discipline. If you teach yourself to work everyday with all of your heart and soul, you’ll be that much closer to reaching your goals and making your dreams come true.

10. Optimism
    The last quality you must have is optimism. Bad attitudes should never discourage an affiliate
    marketer from pursuing their dreams in order to make life better for themselves or anyone around
    them.

    The attitude you have towards the business should always be good, because you’ll have to realize that
    you’re the captain of your ship and your the one steering it towards destiny.

Commission Junction is the worlds number one affiliate network. CJ persently have more than 100,000 affiliates and more than 5,000 merchants.

Almost all newbie affiliate face difficulty in choosing right merchant which can produce result for them. One thing which is also important if any program is generating result for me does not meant that it will also generate result for you. I am writing some of the points which can help affiliates to choose right merchant.

• Check the 3 Month EPC : EPC stands for earning per click but actually it is earning per 100 click. If EPC of a merchant is $10, it means for every 100 click on an average affiliates are earning $10. Higher the EPC means you will earn more per click. Some people confuse this with pay per click, i.e. they will earn on click. In reality it means that 100 click generate sales which result into commission of $10 for affiliate. If you generate click but no sale you will not earn any money. I always look at 3 Month EPC instead of 7 day EPC, because some merchant use batch processing and may take many days to credit commission which result in low 7 day EPC.
• Network earning : Network earning bar shows that how many affiliates of a particular merchant are generating revenue. If a merchant has 5 green boxes in network bar it means that their maximum affiliates are earning revenue. So higher the network earning it is better to join that merchant.
• Category of Merchant : Affiliates should choose the category which he/she understands. Because it helps affiliates to target and choose right keyword and understand the target audience. If affiliate know the industry he can write content on merchant product/services on his site.

These are some of the things which can help new affiliates to choose right merchant in CJ or any other affiliate network.

If I look at affiliate marketing in India, I don’t think there is much to cheers. Many affiliate marketers of India are earning major chunk of their earnings by promoting products of US websites. There are some matrimonial an travel websites in India, running affiliate programs but they are more interested in brand promotion instead of getting sale through affiliate programs, what they want is affiliate put their big banner on their site to promote their brand.

In US, affiliate marketing plays an important role in Internet marketing, almost all merchants give importance to affiliate marketing and affiliates brings a major chunk of sales to merchant.

One of the major reason hindrance for affiliate marketing in India is there is no major affiliate network, with expertise in affiliate marketing. All major sites are running their own affiliate program. As an affiliate I always prefer affiliate program run by third party. Because it give more security to affiliates towards payment and tracking of sales.

With increasing internet literacy and peoples awareness towards e-commerce, let us see how affiliate marketing goes in India in coming years.

Today I received my first cheque from adbrite. For those who do not know about Adbrite. Adbrite is marketplace for digital advertising or in short it is an adnetwork similar to google adsense or yahoo publisher network. But it give more flexibility to advertiser to choose ad space from different sites and more freedom to publisher to choose which ad one want to display in his/her site also publisher can fix the price of their adspace.

I am using adbrite since last eight months. I am not using it it many pages, only two ad unit in single page of two different site. I have got only advertiser who is displaying ad in one of my site, in other site I get network ad or alternate ad (My own ad, for each I earn nothing).

Since adbrite does not have sufficient inventory for indian traffic, and the site where I am using adbrite ad receive only Indian traffic, thats why I reach minimum payment level of $25 after eight months.

I pay more attention to CPA (Cost per action) ad because real money lies there. Recently in one of my site which has only affiliate ads and site is still not complete and receiving almost negligible traffic, generated one sale and give me the commission of $15. I have not yet started promoting that site and planning some idea on how to promote that. That site which still in nascent stage, hardly 2 month old and only 2, 3 visitor per day give me $15, I think If it reached to 100 visitor per day can generate substantial money. One of my plan for this site is to promote through adbrite, as promoting through adbrite will be much cheaper than adwords, but I have to check the quality of traffic which adbrite will send, will it be equal to adwords if not better.

Anyway cheque from another network, means earning from internet is not something scam or fraud as many people believe.
