Scott Wainner

from Emerging Technology Conference has written about human longevity research.Emerging Technology Conference discusses about future technologies . The main event is longevity research. Scott posted anarticle to support the nobel cause.

Longevity doesn’t imply 2 live longer than expected. It is to live like 20 for the next 200 or more years. This would reduce aging the the risks to life due to aging like Cancer, heart attack and cell decay. Its basically slowing down aging

But alas still many people dont support it and want to die. The major reasons for this narrow thought of dying are religious beliefs. Thee main 6 reasons are

1) They are highly religious, and believe that living is standing in the way of reaching their creator. This doesn’t make sense because any creator would have given us life and wants us to live, not to die. Christianity says that Jesus’ death was a sacrifice, something undesirable, not something to be welcomed and revered.

2) They use history (the death of all living things before us) as an excuse for why preventing aging, disease, and death, are ultimately impossible despite the vast number of “first time” accomplishments and breakthroughs that our species has had in the past 100 years alone.

3) They don’t like their lives and would therefore choose not to prolong them. Ultimately this is a solvable problem, given resources and time.

4) They are old and are decrepit, aging has already deteriorated their mind and body, and life isn’t worth living.

5) They are morally opposed to a longer life, citing social problems or population issues. Again, this is a problem that can be addressed – requiring the deaths of billions after some agreed upon period of time in order to make room for a fresh batch should not be a requirement to living.

6) They believe that aging is a given – that it is caused by time, not by cellular processes. In reality, it is known that aging is programmed into our cells as an evolutionary process. But the average life of our great great ancestors was 35 years and ours ins 75. This has been possible because of technology only. So why not let technology make us immortal and resistant to getting old?

Please support the noble cause. You can read the article here.

When you are in web hosting or any other webmaster related biz, you get lots of questions which sometime we assumes that everyone knows. One of them is configuring outlook express to receive email. I spent lots of time telling my hosting customer via phone or yahoo messanger how to configure outlook express to send and receive email.

I decided to write a short tutorial for those, who need to configure outlook expresss to send and receive email.

Assuming email account is already created in cpanel or helm.

Step 1 : Start outlook express, click on tools->accounts->mail->Add->mail. The wizard to configure account will start.

outlook1

Step 2 : In first window of wizard, type your display name after that your email address. Next step which ask for E-mail server Name. Choose My incoming mail server is a POP3 server. In the field of Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server : type mail.yoursitename.com. Outgoing mail (SMTP) server is also mail.yoursitename.com [Please note that this setting is in most of the shared hosting environment, it is always recommended to consult your host, if above setting does not work].

outlook2

Step 3: Login Details: In Internet Mail Logon windows in account name field enter your full email id you@yoursitename.com, this is the mistake which many first timer do they write username part and not full email id, since this is shared hosting full email id is required. In password field enter the password for that email id. Do not check on secure password authentication check box. Chances are remote your hosting provider uses secure password authentication. Finish the wizard. Your account is created, and you can receive email.

outlook3

Step 4: However to send email, one more step is required. Again click on tools->accounts->mail. Choose the email account which you created click on properties->servers. Under Outgoing Mail Server tick checkbox My server required authentication. Under settings choose use same settings as my incoming mail server.

Now you will be able to send and receive email from your outlook express without any problem.

Please note that these setting are configuring pop3 account for shared hosting. If you configuring gmail or your ISP’s email account these settings may not work properly.

A computers software store can create havoc in a newbie’s mind. Laymen seldom know the difference between mcafee antivirus and a regular 1. They would rather download software from a free ware’s site. People looking for particular programs like crm software will find themselves in luck. About software tools, it is usually pros who need them.

Via Michelin’s X930 runs the Navigation 3 software and the installed map data includes tourist information from Michelin’s Green Guide, which is likely to be more useful to families than to professional drivers. The X-930 is Via Michelin’s first step into the US market. The Navigator has plenty going for it.

The Via Michelin Navigation X-930 is very small and handy. Measuring just 12cm wide by 7.1cm deep by 1.9cm high and weighing 134g, it’s easy to pocket or secrete within your vehicle when it’s not being used. The antenna for the SiRFStar III GPS receiver is integrated into the device, so there’s no flip-out section. This screen is a widescreen format, so its actual real estate is slightly different that other 3.5″ touch screens that are in the regular format ratio. The unit has spoken turn cues (not text to speech found in higher end models), and an on board lithium-ion battery that is not user replaceable. It comes with maps of the continental US pre-loaded on a 1GB SD card that needs to stay in the unit.

This Car Navigation System, the Navigator X-930 comes with a rather chunky sucker-style windscreen mount, and you can easily use this device in three planes to find the optimum viewing angle. You can configure three information areas at the very top of the screen to show any mix of distance remaining, time remaining, arrival time, current time, speed and direction.

Mapping data is supplied on an SD card, and if you have several sets of maps for different areas you can swap these as required. A hold button disables screen taps, and there’s a headphone socket, so you could use the Via Michelin Navigation X-930 while on foot. It is designed to be used with its 3.5in. 320-by-240 pixel touch-screen in landscape format. The display occupies most of the front of the device, but there’s room on either side for some control buttons.

One of the best features of the Via Michelin Navigation X-930 is its ability to quickly re-route you around problems that you can see on the road ahead. During a trip, you tap the screen once to get to a set of menu options, and then hit an icon labelled ‘Bypass’. Tapping again allows you to specify the distance of the route ahead to bypass: this can vary between 100 yards and 30 miles.

Overall, this is a reasonable package, with extensive POI information that may appeal to leisure travellers, the large trappable icons and hardware buttons for accessing route planning and system settings were well implemented, but the postcode entry problem is a basic error.

One of the best ways to maintain your leather shoe is using shoe-polish. But certain shoe polish products contain toxic materials, which are considered dangerous. This article will explain, How to maintain leather shoes, and how to buy discount shoes. Because Choosing the right Shoes and maintaining the shoes both are important for you.

Dealing with toxic Shoe Polish

• Wear gloves, when you use shoe polish as they contain toxics that can be absorbed through the skin or inhaled.

• While polishing shoes never consume alcohol.

• Shoe polish must be kept out of reach of children and pets.

• Use it in a well-ventilated area.

• Use the entire shoe polishes at one go and any residue should be discarded.

• Discard rags or clothes that have come in contact with the polish.

• The discarded shoe polish must be handled as a hazardous household substance.

Most manufacturers do not list their ingredients. So, it is impossible to know if the shoe polish is non-toxic or not. Take necessary precautions when you use the shoe polish.

Alternatives to Shoe Polish

• A shoe repair can clean and polish shoes for you.

• Test this on a small spot on the shoe. Rub the leather shoes with the inside of a banana peel. Use a soft cloth to buff and shine.

• Take a small amount of olive oil or walnut oil and work it on the shoe. Polish with a soft cloth.

Traditional method of Shoe Polish

Three types of shoe polish namely liquid, cream or pastes are available in the market.

Liquid Polish – Dries quickly, not available in different colours, not long lasting.

Shoe Polish Paste – Long lasting but messy and slow to work with.

Shoe Polish Cream – Available in a variety of colours, great compromise.

Choose a small area of the shoe to test the colour. Apply the polish and rub it into the shoe with a soft cloth and let it dry. Once dry, buff the shoes with a soft cloth or shine them with the specified brush.

Protection from the elements

Using weatherproofing products can go a long way in protecting your shoes from water and other elements. A bee wax product is a better choice than a protective spray if you are too much concerned about a pretty finish. Use a protective spray if appearance is important.

Additional Tips

• Use a pre-cleaner if there is a lot of old polish build-up.

• To change the colour of your shoes, consult a shoe repair shop.

• Before polishing remove the laces.

• Condition your new pair of leather shoes before using them.

Lacing Your Shoes

Choose the right laces:

Replace long laces with shorter ones.

Flat ones are better than round laces as they tend to slip.

Use elastic lacing/lock systems; plastic or Velcro lace locks are also available.

Right Knot:

To keep the shoes tied, doubles, triple or quadruple knot the bow.

Once it is done, tuck the laces under the crisscrossed laces in front.

Alternate Tricks:

  • Lace stick can be rubbed on the laces to keep them tied.
  • Run a piece of duct tape around the instep, so as to cover the lace. They will never become loose.
  • Laces will stay tied the whole day if a little water is squirted on the shoelace.
  • Use a needle and thread to sew the laces. If you are in a race tie your shoes, put the stick through the lace knot, 3 or 4 times. To free it, a strong tug will do.
  • Having duck-foot has its own advantages, you can never step or trip on your laces.
