Computer Viruses that Come Calling!!!!!!!!!!!!
March 22nd, 2007 at 06:39 pm by Nilesh in GeneralDear Friends,
I am posting this so that you can be updated with
some of the VERY DANGEROUS viruses created daily by hackers to create
havoc on our computers. Below there is a list of 10 viruses currently
cited as being the most prevalent in terms of being seen the most or
in their ability to potentially cause damage. New viruses are created
daily. This is by no means an all inclusive list. The best thing you
can do is to remain vigilant, keep your anti-virus software updated,
and stay aware of the current computer virus threats.
Virus: Trojan.Lodear
A Trojan horse that attempts to download remote files. It will inject
a .dll file into the EXPLORER.EXE process causing system instability.
The explorer.exe is the main process in Windows without which even the
desktop can be displayed.
Virus: W32.Beagle.CO@mm
A mass-mailing worm that lowers security settings. It can delete
security-related registry sub keys and may block access to security-
related websites.
Virus: Backdoor.Zagaban
A Trojan horse that allows the compromised computer to be used as a
covert proxy and which may degrade network performance.
Virus: W32/Netsky-P
A mass-mailing worm which spreads by emailing itself to addresses
produced from files on the local drives.
Virus: W32/Mytob-GH
A mass-mailing worm and IRC backdoor Trojan for the Windows platform.
Messages sent by this worm will have the subject chosen randomly from
a list including titles such as: Notice of account limitation, Email
Account Suspension, Security measures, Members Support, Important
Notification.
Virus: W32/Mytob-EX
A mass-mailing worm and IRC backdoor Trojan similar in nature to W32-
Mytob-GH. W32/Mytob-EX runs continuously in the background, providing
a backdoor server which allows a remote intruder to gain access and
control over the computer via IRC channels. This virus spreads by
sending itself to email attachments harvested from your email
addresses.
Virus: W32/Mytob-AS, Mytob-BE, Mytob-C, and Mytob-ER
This family of worm variations possesses similar characteristics in
terms of what they can do. They are mass-mailing worms with backdoor
functionality that can be controlled through the Internet Relay Chat
(IRC) network. Additionally, they can spread through email and through
various operating system vulnerabilities such as the LSASS (MS04-011).

ChaCha Human Powered Search Engine.
September 5th, 2006 at 10:52 pm by ashok in GeneralA new human powered search engine Chacha.com was launched today. I came to know about this through webmasterworld.com. The thing which make it different from other search engines is that real human guide will answer your query.
However when I visit there site was down for maintenance with following message
Thank you for visiting ChaCha
Since launching today, our search engine has received significant traffic. We’re looking forward to helping with your search, but ask that you check back soon.
To make it easier for you to know when we’re available to help with your search or to become a ChaCha guide, enter your email below.
According to searchengine watch blog
Brad Bostic, co-founder of ChaCha, said that the site had lined up about 2500 guides at launch: college students, retirees, stay-at-home moms and others “who are online all day anyway.” But not just anyone can become a guide apparently; you have to be “sponsored” (invited by an existing guide) and work your way up a hierarchy consisting of four levels.

Good Start
August 13th, 2006 at 10:48 pm by ashok in Generalhelloashok.com is my eighth website (not counting websites hosted on free space as I can’t claim them mine). I spent almost 6 month on my first website before making it functional. But this blog took only one day to become functional. I created the account on webspace and installed the wordpress blog before domain was registered. Blog installation took hardly 5 minute. I booked the domain on 7th Aug, It took around 4 -5 hours for propogation of nameserver, by 7 evening my blog was accessible with my domain name http://www.helloashok.com. I wrote my first article on 7th evening, give some final touch on 8th and publish it. So by 8th my website was fully functional and operational.
This is the only website where I did not write a single html or php code. My all other websites are hard coded by me or people who are associated with me. The use of readymade scripts on my existing sites are very less. I will add some custom code in this blog when I will customize the look and feel of the blog. I am also planning to add some features in this blog by writing some custom code, but these are not very high in my priority list may take upto two or three months before I will implement that.
This is also my fastest growing site in terms of popularity. I got 50+ visitors on 8th of Aug when I published my first article. The primary reason may be that I was running a thread in digit forum regarding this blog.

Another good news for my blog is that it has been indexed in google on 10th Aug 06, This also fastest inclusion of any of my site in google. Not only my site is being displayed for writing site name,
http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=www.helloashok.com&btnG=Search&meta=
It is also number one for keyword Hello Ashok. Check here http://www.google.co.in/search?hl=en&q=hello+ashok&btnG=Google+Search&meta=

Hello world!
August 8th, 2006 at 10:40 am by ashok in GeneralHello, world. Yet another blog in the world of internet. I created my first website in year 2000, it was a hosted on free host with free subdomain. Although the site is still alive but I rarely visit it and I don’t know whether it attract any visitors or not. No email id mentioned on that site work. At that time I was not aware of anything called blog.
Blogging has gain termondous popularity since last 2 years, I was also thinking of starting a blog since last 4-5 months. Around 10 days ago I decided that I should start a blog now. But there were few questions which has to be answered.
1) What will be topic of the articles which I will post in my blog
2) Name of the domain where I will host my blog.
3) Which blogging software to be used.
Regarding topic. I recently has started doing affiliate marketing so I thought I will post my experience with affiliate marketing here.
Regarding Domain: I took maximum time deciding in domain name for my blog. I first decided to register ashsense.com which was inspired from Jensense Blog. I was almost going to book this domain, but later I dropped the idea of using this name. Next I decided on yourash.com which was also dropped. I thought about some more like yourashok.com, hiashok.com, byashok.com, ashokhere.com. Finally I decided on helloashok.com and booked this domain.
Regarding blogging software : I also researched my which blogging software to use, no doubt wordpress was famous, but I decided to reasearch before zeroing on one. I started a thread on digit and get good suggestions from Sykora and drgrudge. This article on Sitepoint was also useful on deciding which blog software should I use. I considered three software Movable Type, wordpress and Serendipity. I dropped the Idea of Movable Type because It was devloped in pearl. Between wordpress and serendipity I finally zeroed on wordpress as it is more popular more number of plugins and themes are available, better support community is available for wordpress and also it is one of the fastest growing blogging software.
I hope this blog will also help to improve my writing capability. I took too much time to write this article.
