Blog Promotion
November 20th, 2006 at 11:35 am by ashok in TrafficI am writing on internet marketing, blog promotion and generating traffic on this blog but my Alexa ranking is around 1100K, it is really an irony. So I decided that I should concentrate my energy to generate some traffic for blog, because writing about generating traffic with such a low alexa ranking is something not good.
Some of the reasons of my low alexa ranking are my blog is only three month old, I was not very much regular in posting articles infact there was more than 20 days gap in my articles in previous month. I was concentrating my maximum energy in my other sites which are generating revenue for me.
So from previous week I have decided to improve my ranking and generating traffic. My previous week alexa ranking is around 300K up 800K from my 3 month average alexa rank which is 1100K.
I have also created a campaign in adwords to generate traffic for my blog. Although I have yet to see how much useful traffic PPC will generate for my blog, as I am not selling any service or product directly or by affiliate program through this blog.
I have also decided to give some free ebooks on traffic generation and internet marketing to my RSS readers. The links of these books will only be displayed to RSS readers, so if you are not my RSS subscriber I want you to subscribe to my RSS feed.

Tapping traffic from other websites
November 14th, 2006 at 04:41 pm by ashok in TrafficTraffic is the lifeline of websites which keep them alive. Webmaster adopt different methods to generate traffic for websites, some methods are white hat, some are black hat, some grey and some pink. In one of my article I wrote some method to generate traffic, there are some other methods which can generate a good traffic for your site.
In this article I am writing about a method, which is not new and many webmasters are using this to generate traffic, but some are still unaware of this.
The method I am writing about is tapping traffic from other sites. I am using this method since long, and there are many ways to tap traffic from others website, but this particular tip I got from Allan Gardyne’s newsletter, and I applied it and get good traffic through it.
I am subscribed to feeds of many blog, and whenever I am on my PC a window of my feed reader always remain open. When some one submit an article in his blog, it comes to my feed reader in few minute. What I do is whenever a new aritcle is posted, I visit to the blog and write comment on their blog. If you are a first commentator there is a chance that many people has not come to read article so far and they will come this page soon and there are chances that some people will click on your name which will lead to your website. Being a first commentator is not the only thing, people will click on your name only when they will found your comment intersting. So posting a non relevant comment will not serve any purpose.
The point which is to be noted is I am not encouraging about comment spam. What I want to say is be the first commentator and write Interesting and relevant comment.

Pay Per Click Advertising
September 18th, 2006 at 05:12 pm by ashok in TrafficIn my previous article about traffic sources, I wrote about many source of traffic. We can broadly classified these sources in two parts.
- Paid Traffic
- Free Traffic
Although there are many form of paid traffic but the most popular one is pay per click (PPC). Many new webmaster particularly those who does not have their own product/service to sell generally avoid paid traffic and spend their energy to generate traffic through free sources. But in my opinion if you are really serious to earn money online then you can not avoid paid traffic specially PPC. PPC has there own pros and cons.
Pros
- Instant Traffic :You website will start getting traffic instantaneously with PPC where as for free traffic, you have to wait months and sometime years to get substantial traffic.
- Targeted Traffic :You can get targeted traffic for your choosen keywords, who are interested in your product.
Cons
- Click fraud : Although all major PPC providers have mechanism to detect click fraud but still you lose some of your money in click fraud. Basically there are two type of click fraud, in first case your competitor clicks on you ad to drain your money to get competitive advantage and in second case affiliates of PPC providers click on ads to fraudently earn money.
- No residual effect : PPC marketing does not give any long term benefit as soon as you stop PPC marketing you will stop getting traffic, whereas in SEO etc. your one time work can bring traffic to you for long time.
Pay per click advertsing is the most popular advertising method in internet. This method is generating money not only for publisher but many advertiser who mastered this method are earning huge money through this.
All three major search engine Google, Yahoo and MSN are providing PPC advertising to their clients through Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing and Adcenter respectiviely. There are also many other PPC providers some of the popular one are.
If you are in internet marketing and selling your own product or selling others product through affiliate program. I recommend you to join atleast one PPC program to advertise. There is no need for big budget you can do PPC marketing through small budget also. If you ask me which one program you should join then my recommendation is adword. It has the biggest volume of search traffic and many hundred thousands sites in their content network. Through adword you can get as much traffic as you want for any sector instantaneously. And yes I am also using adword since last two years, and very much satisfied with the quality of traffic they sent.

Another Good Source of Traffic
September 13th, 2006 at 09:13 pm by ashok in TrafficYesterday when I check my stat in Google Analytics, I was surprised to find 40 referals from stumbleupon.com. When I visit the referal page http://www.stumbleupon.com/refer.php and enter my domain name I found that my website was given a thumbsup by a user, that user was not unknown to me she was Carol, with whom I had a discussion on technobytez forum about stumbleupon.com and how to bring traffic on blogs.
Stumbleupon is not a new site, but it has gain popularity in recent past. It want its member to download a browser toolbar, which contain some buttons. The most important one is stumble buton when you press stumble button a new website is loaded on your browser depending upon your preference. Another important buttons are thumbsup and thumbsdown. If you like any page you can press thumbsup button, and that page will be added in stumbleupon database.
But I assume that traffic coming through stumbleupon is not very targeted and 90% of visitors leave the page within 10 seconds after viewing the page by again clicking stumble button.

Get Traffic From Forums
September 7th, 2006 at 09:20 pm by ashok in TrafficDiscussion Forums are one of the biggest source to get free target traffic for websites. I myself visits many forums, and found many good sites through forums only. Generally it is the habbit of some webmsater or affiliates that they put their website link or affiliate link on the forum post without adding any substance. It does not get the desired results to the poster, either their post are deleted or link are removed from the post by moderator also other members frown on these type of activities.
There are some points which you must remember if you want to draw good traffic for your website from forums.
- Join forums in your niche and promote your site in your signature always give link of your site in your signature with description. By just writing website name will not be as effective as linking with a description. Be careful. Before start posting read the forum instructions carefully first else your posts may annoy forum moderators and regular forum members. Lurk and learn.
- If you are promoting affiliate link through forum do check affiliate terms and guidelines as many affiliate agreements specifically say that posting an affiliate link on a forum is considered as spamming. Ignoring this rule you may be terminated from affiliate program and you could lose any commission you’ve earned so far.
- Build your reputation by sharing your knowledge and posting helpful and useful comments. If you think carefully of ways to provide truly useful content that people will talk about, you’ll automatically receive lots of free, one-way links to your site as people recommend it without even being asked to do so.
Marketing to forums takes time, you have to build up a relationship, post often, and you have to know your audience. It can become huge source of traffic to your site. It only requires time. All you have to do is sharing your knowledge and expertise. Not only it will give you free traffic, It will also help you to build your reputation as an expert in your field and people always want to know more about experts.
