Tips to Choose Merchant in CJ
January 5th, 2007 at 07:07 pm by ashok in Affiliate MarketingCommission Junction is the worlds number one affiliate network. CJ persently have more than 100,000 affiliates and more than 5,000 merchants.
Almost all newbie affiliate face difficulty in choosing right merchant which can produce result for them. One thing which is also important if any program is generating result for me does not meant that it will also generate result for you. I am writing some of the points which can help affiliates to choose right merchant.
- Check the 3 Month EPC : EPC stands for earning per click but actually it is earning per 100 click. If EPC of a merchant is $10, it means for every 100 click on an average affiliates are earning $10. Higher the EPC means you will earn more per click. Some people confuse this with pay per click, i.e. they will earn on click. In reality it means that 100 click generate sales which result into commission of $10 for affiliate. If you generate click but no sale you will not earn any money. I always look at 3 Month EPC instead of 7 day EPC, because some merchant use batch processing and may take many days to credit commission which result in low 7 day EPC.
- Network earning : Network earning bar shows that how many affiliates of a particular merchant are generating revenue. If a merchant has 5 green boxes in network bar it means that their maximum affiliates are earning revenue. So higher the network earning it is better to join that merchant.
- Category of Merchant : Affiliates should choose the category which he/she understands. Because it helps affiliates to target and choose right keyword and understand the target audience. If affiliate know the industry he can write content on merchant product/services on his site.
These are some of the things which can help new affiliates to choose right merchant in CJ or any other affiliate network.

Futurebazaar targets Rs. 300cr
January 3rd, 2007 at 03:14 pm by ashok in WebAccording to the recent article of economics times Future Group expecting revenue Rs .300cr this year from their online shopping portal futurebazaar.com .
Futurebazaar is getting around 40,000 visitors per day and out of that they claim that 1% convert i.e. place orders. It is a good ratio if they are generating this much sale from Indian traffic. Which is not considered good in International market for their buying potential.
Recently I had written an article on affiliate marketing in India, that affiliate marketing prospects are not very bright in india. I visited futurebazaar.com to check whether they have any affiliate program or not. I found that they have none. Still Indian sites do not take affiliate marketing very seriously whereas for american and european companies affiliate marketing is a major part of their online marketing strategy. One of the reason is that their are not many serious companies doing ecommerce in India, and generating crores of Rupees per year through their online ventures. Once there will be more companies and more competition we can see companies adpoting different marketing strategies.

2006 An Eventful Year
January 1st, 2007 at 03:04 pm by ashok in Web
So 2006 has come to an end. It was really an eventful year for me, in my online activities. When 2006 begin I was facing problem with my previous VPS host, I bought a VPS in the end of Nov. 2005, but it was provided to me in the middle of December. Even after that, the service of VPS provider was not good and I decided to discontinue his service. I paid for 3 months although I get only 50 day service. In the first week of Feb I again purchased VPS from my new host, and still using their service, so far the service is good. This blog is also hosted in same VPS.
This year I also started doing affiliate marketing seriously, by promoting products of other websites and received some checks from CJ, shareasale.com etc. Although I do not say that my affiliate marketing is going great, but so far it is producing good result.
In the month of August this year I started my this blog helloashok.com. I think this is one of the major thing which I did this year. So far the experience of blogging is very great, and I found many people online in this four months of blogging which I did not find in my six year of other online activities. Blog is really a great tool for networking and increasing your online circle.
The year ended with two more new activities. I started my own webhosting business via my another website http://www.ewebguru.com/ in the month of December. So far result is encouraging for my new venture. I am providing best and most competitive rates with quality hosting services. Let’s see how it goes in 2007.
Another thing which took place in December is I sold one of my website. Since transaction has not been completed, therefore I will not disclose more about it. I will write more about this sale after the transaction completed and domain and site transfered.
I purchased for myself 5 domains in 2006, including this blog. Planning to buy some more soon.
Overall these thing happen in 2006 to me.
So how was year 2006 for you?
