Tools needed for affiliate marketing
February 21st, 2007 at 04:09 pm by ashok in Affiliate MarketingLike every job, affiliate marketing also needs tool which helps you to become a successful affiliate marketer. I am providing a list of tools which you can used in affiliate marketing.
Email account - If you are regular internet user, you definately have a email id. But for affiliate marketing or any online business, I recommend that you do not use a free email account such as Yahoo or Hotmail as your business email account. If you have a website with a domain name, you should be able to set up an email account associated with that domain in Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express.
An Autoresponder - An autoresponder is web based software which that sends out one emails to people who has signed up your list. I had already mentioned in previous articles how to build a good list, and how important list is for affiliate marketing. You can start with a free autoresponder, such as that offered at www.getresponse.com , but a paid service is recommended.
Keyword Research Tools - If you will be doing PPC campaigns, which are discussed later, you will want Keyword Research Tools. Google adwrods has free tools that you can use, there are some other good tools like digital points or yahoo search marketing tool. But stand alone web based software, such as that found at www.wordtracker.com is also recommended.
A List of Resources - You will definitely need to start gathering a list of resources that includes a list of article directories, PPC search engines, affiliate program directories, and directories of ezines.
A Website and Domain for Each Niche or Market - If you are doing any online business whether directly or through affiliate programs, A website is must, because if you send traffic directly to your merchant then you are building their business not yours. Good affiliate marketers send traffic first to their website then to the merchants website. Although there are some loss of traffic in this, but it pays in long run. You need a website for each niche with it’s own domain name. The website should be full of content, with affiliate links worked into the content. Ideally, each website will also have a squeeze page, where you will collect the names and email addresses of your visitors as well, in order to build your lists. If you need an affordable domain or webhosting you can always buy from my webhosting company ewebguru.com.
Commission and Campaign Tracking Software - In one of my previous post, I had mentioned the importance of tracking. This is one of the main reason why people do not succeed in affiliate marketing. Keeping up with affiliate products, affiliate links, commissions earned, commissions paid, advertising campaigns, and affiliate tracking report sites, logins, and passwords can easily become a full time job without software to organize it all. Affiliate Organizer at www.affiliateorganizer.com is highly recommended.
There may be other tools that you find you need in the future, but all of these things will get you started. Some of them do cost money, but if you aren’t prepared to pay for them, you can find suitable replacements that don’t cost anything. Just be sure to upgrade at your first opportunity.
You may also find that you need web page building software, and an ftp client to upload webpages to your website. You will definitely need an up-to-date web browser, and you obviously need a good computer with an Internet connection.
Ideally, you should have a home office. This will not only give you the space and proper atmosphere for success, try to set your desk and computer up in a low-traffic area of your home, where you can work with fewer interruptions.

Use Downloads To Build Mailing List
February 6th, 2007 at 09:15 am by ashok in Internet MarketingCouple of months ago, I had written that how important it is to have a mailing list. If you are in Internet marketing, whether you are selling your own product or selling thorugh affiliate program.
A mailing list is the lifeblood of anyone online business. Every itnernet marketer knows that “the money is in the list”. If you had a targeted list of prospects to contact each time you have a new product, you will be able to save a lot of effort by marketing it to your existing list of targeted prospects.
There are many ways to create a good mailing list, but the method which is mostly used by Internet marketer is offering relevant download.
However if you keep some points in mind, before using this strategy, this strategy can prove to be very successful.
First of all, you should display prominently your download form on your site. It will be better if you dedicate a full page to it and link to that page from every other page of your website. That way, your visitor will found your download page easily. and when they do, you’ll get some of them converted into youe mailing list!
Also, you put a little effort in promoting your download. You should write few lines elaborating on the values of the download, and why your visitors should download it. You might think why would anyone want to pass on a freebie, but many visitors are generally tooo lazy to download it because most of their downloads just sit on the harddisst. It is hence important to show your visitors why they should download your freebie.

Returing vistors form a major part of traffic for many successful websites. Also those sites which sell something, get maximum sale through returning visitors. I am writing a few methods which you can use to keep your visitors coming back to your site. Although there is no need for you to use all methods but using one or two methods will definately help you to making your vistors sticky.
1) Forum
Forum or discussion board is one of the most powerful tool which make a vistor to return back to your site . Forum provids a place to your visitor to voice their opinions and interact with other members of your site. As conversations build up, a sense of community will also follow and your visitors will come back to your site almost religiously every day.
2) Start a Blog
Blog is an onine journal, also called as Web Log. By writing regularly to you blog and updating it with latest news about yourself you can make the visitors sticky to your site. Blog also help in builiding up you credibility as you are proving to them that there is also a real life person behind the website.
3) Polls
Polls is another good form of interaction that you can consider adding to your site. This also provide a way for visitors to voice their opinions and to get involved in your website. Be sure to publish polls relevant to the target audience of your website to keep them interested to find out about the results.
4) Update frequently with fresh content
Regular updating of website not only helpful in good search engine postion it also help in your visitors come back, they will have something to read on your site. This is the most widely known and most effective method of attracting returning visitors.
