My experience with paid hosting
November 16th, 2006 at 02:26 pm by ashok in Web HostingI have written my experience with free hosting in this article. I choose my first paid host at 2003, for my website dehradunyellowpages.com. Initially I bought 10MB linux space for Rs. 700/-. The reseller from whom I bought the space was from my city. Since at that time I had no experience on online purchase and I was not aware of any hosting provider in my city so that was my only option. Initially the service of that person was good, but later when I found some problem in sending mail from my website through php script, he was not able to solve the problem and told us that problem is on our end at our script whereas the script was functioning fine before that.
Also when my site start getting some traffic, I came know that there is another thing called bandwidth which my site is consuming. When traffic of my site increased my total bandwidth which was 100MB was consumed and site become inaccessible, I contacted my host he told you have to buy extra bandwidth. He gave me another 100MB bandwidth for Rs. 250/- .Since I was not prepared for this expenses, I found it pinching and decided that I should search for some new host, after searching few days on net, I found some some web hosting companies whose rates were compartively better than my current host. So I purchased space from new host and shift my website to my new host. I paid him Rs. 650 for 25MB space and 400MB bandwidth which was quite cheaper than my first host.

if you got a credit card, i highly recommend you to get webhosting from dreamhost. it’s cheap and never let me down in term of performance (except for certain power failure)..
Thanks for your suggestion, I will consider your suggestion, when I will decide to move from my current host. Since now I have around 10 sites instead of shared hosting, I prefer VPS. Presently I am also on VPS. Anyway thanks for your suggestion and welcome in my blog.
